The Banger Sisters Do London came out last year at eXtasy. It mirrors some of the experiences I had on one of my visits to England with my real-life sister. This book is about making changes in your life if you are given a chance. Did we have sex with all the wonderful men the sisters did in the book? Nope. But I had plenty of inspiration to write about Holly and Kim’s adventures.
The book began with one sister, Holly, doing her part to meet the Mile High Club standards with an attractive lawyer named Sean. This man was modeled after one of my favorite actors, Gerard Butler. (In fact, I had a Gerry fixation during the writing of this book. He had three parts.)
One of our fabulous days in London was spent at a yearly rock festival named Hard Rock Calling in Hyde Park, London. My sister and I not only became lost trying to find the entrance to Hyde Park, but it was raining. Did it dampen our partying spirit? No way. Three of our favorite bands (Aerosmith, Chris Cornell, Arckid) were there, along with many others who we enjoyed throughout the day and evening. My inspiration for this chapter in The Banger Sisters Do London started with the same events that happened to the real-life sisters. They were lost in the rain. I decided to use two of my favorite rock stars, Joe Elliott and Phil Collen from Def Leppard, as the models for my fantasy men. They made their appearance in my book as Joe and Phil of the fictitious band, Prowler. Joe and Phil were handsome sweeties, like the real-life Joe and Phil (who I’ve been lucky enough to meet several times), so writing the scene was easy. The sisters met their favorite rock stars and spent quality time with them at the rock festival and their lavish hotel rooms. Rock on!
After the rock stars and sisters parted ways, the sisters traveled to the Tower of London. I love this place and have visited three times (No apologies. I’m a history fan!) After a tour of the Tower, the sisters met a handsome duke and viscount on official duty. The royals were intrigued with the sisters and invited them to the duke’s lush home out in the country. The idea for the beautiful grounds of the duke’s home came from Henry VIII’s Hampton Court Palace that my sister and I visited on this trip. If you look at pictures of the garden, you can enjoy the same view as Holly and Kim. My inspiration for the duke and viscount were the fabulous and talented actors, Christian Bale (if Christian is doing it, I’ll like it) and Gerard Butler (again!) There is even another appearance from the lawyer that Holly met from the plane (Gerard Butler again!) Although the duke, attorney and viscount would like them to stay longer, the sisters must move on to their next adventure.
The sisters go out for a night on the town to celebrate Kim’s 40th birthday. First they went to a fabulous musical, which in real-life was We Will Rock You, the Queen musical, at the amazing Dominion Theatre. After the theatre, my sister and I headed off to Piccadilly Circus to sample the nightlife. So did Holly and Kim! However, Holly and Kim met a couple of young dentists who took them to their first S & M club. What a birthday party for Kim! Inspirations for the darling dentists were from the gorgeous and gifted actors Viggo Mortensen and Gerard Butler (again!) In this scene they were portrayed quite a few years younger than in real life.
It is easy to see that actors and rock stars are my favorite muses. All of the men in this book were portrayed as wonderful, caring people. The rock stars had their humanitarian efforts in Africa, the aristocrats supported children’s charities and the future dentists wanted to help London’s poor. If you’re interested in reading The Banger Sisters Do London, you now have the background for the story. I like to use some of my real-life adventures and blend them into my books. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing it. Cheers!
Holly and Kim Banger are sisters who have taken different paths in life. Holly is a single accountant with an enviable, but stressful career in Chicago, Illinois. Kim is a mother and medical assistant who lives in St. Louis, Missouri, and has recently gone through a divorce. The sisters are close, but don’t get to see each other very often. When it’s time to celebrate Kim turning forty, the women decide on an adventure to London.
But they only have three days.
While romping with rock stars, royalty and younger men, the women are amazed to find each man to be a hero in his own right. During their three whirlwind days and nights of pleasure, they also discover that changes are desperately needed in their lives
